About MVP Football Academy
MVP Football Academy is a high performance football development program for high school players in Ontario.
We are dedicated to preparing and mentoring our players to be able to qualify and compete at the highest levels of football.
A Battle Sports (battlesports.com) sponsored program, the MVP teams compete in some of the top tournaments offered in the US, with all players having the opportunity to compete in US regional tournaments, mixing US college recruiting visits into each tournament weekend to create exposure for players at every opportunity.
From practices to tournaments and Showcase Camps, MVP Academy is always looking to develop high school age players who are preparing to play USports or NCAA football so they are ready and eligible to compete at the next level, while providing the exposure of performing in front of university coaches.
What is the MVP difference?
Our Coaching Staff is made up entirely of current and former Canadian University coaches & players who are all dedicated to teaching the specific skills needed to play at the highest levels. We focus on teaching common university-level techniques, strategies and concepts so that players are mentally, as well as physically, prepared for University football.
Academics are very important to the MVP Coaches as they are the key to university eligibility and preparing players for life after football. Coaches will regularly check in with players to discuss grades, and have use of the Honest Game application to track eligibility against NCAA requirements for those looking to play in the US.
In addition to the on-field football development the MVP coaches will:
- Support players (for free) in their journey through the prep-school, NCAA and USports recruiting process, increasing player exposure to coaches through established networks, trips to camps, and offering advice for both academic and football related topics before and during the process.
- Off-field advice and information for continued physical and mental development in the game of football, including skills & technique guidance and building Football IQ.
MVP Academy is a collection of high-achieving football coaches who volunteer their time for free for the love of the game and the desire to help young people succeed.
MVP Expectations
MVP is a program looking to push the envelope of opportunities for High School football players that want to realise their dream of playing at a higher level. As such we have expectations of players and their parents.
We understand life happens and everyone is busy so we are flexible and we minimise the time commitment as much as possible while still progressing improvement in each player.
What we ask is that if you are going to commit to the program you commit to the program:
Act with maturity and respect at all times, especially when travelling for tournaments.
Be at all tournaments you agree to attend, whether in the US or Canada.
Be at practice. Four hours a month, September through January, is all we ask.
Attend and be present for film reviews, conducted remotely. 2-3 hours per month to review practice film. Zoom meeting links are provided.
Watch recorded film reviews and educational recordings provided by the coaches between practices and tournaments.
Study the playbook (defence).
Work while away from the MVP program to continue your own development - lifting, field workouts, etc.
Developing the person is a cumulative effort by MVP, the player and their family. Open communication and honesty are key to everyone being successful.
